These correspond with the five elements: earth to posture; water to 'moving with the breath'; fire to the internal energetic alignment of bandha; air to breathing freely; space/ether to awareness, the overall context in which hathayoga is practised. I emphasize different rhythms and dynamics in my yoga practice; the Ha (yang) and tha (yin) of yoga. My Yang (ha) yoga is flowing, playful and precise; light, strengthening and invigorating. Yin Yoga emphasizes stillness, release and awareness. Postures are held longer and without effort. Classes are presented as a sequence of postures woven together upon the breath. Different aspects of yoga method will be emphasised over the course of classes. All classes end with a period of relaxation in Savasana (posture of relaxation).
